From April 2027, savings interest outside an ISA is taxed at 24%, 44% or 49% instead of 20%, 40% or 45%. Enter your figures to see the tax in 2026-27 and 2027-28, how your Personal Savings Allowance and the starting rate apply, and whether moving interest into a cash ISA wipes the bill.

How it works
Unused Personal Allowance covers savings interest first, then the starting rate for savings (up to £5,000 at 0% if your non-savings income is below £17,570), then your Personal Savings Allowance (£1,000 basic, £500 higher, £0 additional). What is left is taxed at your savings rate. ISA interest is never taxed.
